Songs and Seasons: Supporting Change and Growth

Updated: Jan 7

Silhouette of a person jumping between cliffs over the word "CHANGE" in a vibrant sunset sky, symbolizing transformation and courage.

One of my favorite quotes since I was ten years old comes from Rush’s song, Tom Sawyer:

“Changes aren’t permanent, but change is.”

And nowhere is that truth more visible than in the month of September in deciduous climates.

As summer fades, Mother Nature reminds us of her cycles of change. The days still shine with late-summer warmth, yet the evenings bring a cooler breeze. Gardens and orchards offer their ripest gifts. We sense the turning, not yet in full color, but in subtle shifts of air, light, and rhythm.

September is the in-between

The sweetness of harvest, and the first whisper that a new season waits just beyond the horizon. This season asks us to hold two truths: the courage to step forward into new possibilities, and the wisdom to pause and nurture seeds of what’s not yet ready.

Both are valid. Both are change.

And I’ve learned that through my own story of leaving the comfort of an "age-appropriate" job and lifestyle to move across continents, and finding love in my 40s after everything else fell apart; and in guiding clients through career upheaval, health challenges, and relationship breaks, and releases of old-yet-comfortable beliefs that no longer serve them:

Transitions are often the very place where life cracks open.

It can feel terrifying when everything you thought was stable is suddenly uncertain. A relationship ends. A job disappears. A diagnosis changes everything. You may not know what tomorrow will bring, or who you’re becoming in the process.

And yet, that’s the spot. The spot where you come back to yourself, unmasked and unshackled. Where you shed the old stories and step into the next chapter with clarity and courage.

Not everyone chooses that route. It’s often easier to cling to what’s familiar, even if it’s uncomfortable. But if you’re in a transitional season right now, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

This is where hypnosis can be life-changing.

Hypnotherapy helps quiet the noise of doubt and fear, so you can hear the part of you that already knows who you are and what you truly desire. It allows your nervous system to reset. Your mind to release old patterns. Your body to find calm.

So instead of being swept up in panic, you can take your next steps with purpose.

This season invites us to partner with the subconscious and with the spirit of Teshuvah, a gentle return to self. To imagine what’s next and begin aligning with it, while also letting deeper shifts unfold quietly beneath the surface, preparing us for transformation that lasts.

Because whether it’s a seasonal shift, a career change, a relationship upheaval, or a personal transformation, you’re not lost. You’re in transition.

And every transition holds the possibility of becoming more fully you - clear, calm, confident, and unlocked.
